We recommend starting the trip from the village of Halidzor. This way you'll save time on the route and get a better sense of the scale and thrill of flying on the famous "Wings of Tatev" over the Vorotan Gorge

Do I need to book tickets for the "Wings of Tatev" cable car in advance?

Usually not on weekdays. On holidays and during the high tourist season, it's recommended to check the schedule and ticket availability in advance

Is the route suitable for traveling with children?

Yes, the route is suitable for a family trip. Children are usually especially interested in Areni Cave, the "Wings of Tatev" cable car, and the natural views along the way

Can Tatev be visited without the cable car?

Yes. The monastery can be reached by road from both Halidzor and Ltsen. The cable car is an additional attraction, not a mandatory part of the route

Can you drive from Yerevan to Tatev in winter with a front-wheel-drive car?

Yes. The M2 interstate highway is regularly cleared of snow. However, mountain passes can become very challenging for front-wheel-drive vehicle during and immediately after snowfall
