The European New Car Assessment Programme (NCAP) released the safety ratings of two new models Dacia/Renault Logan and Sandero Stepway.

As a result both cars are given only a two-star rating. Both cars achieve a score of over 70% for a driver and an adult occupant protection, 72% - in child occupant protection, as well as for the protection of vulnerable road users – 41% and for safety assistance – 42%. The cars showed weak protection to the chest both for a driver and adult occupants during the front impact. In case of side impact the cars offered very poor protection to head of back seat passengers.

Experts censure a pared-down safety specifications of Dacia/Renault Logan and Sandero Stepway The basic, radar-only autonomous emergency braking system reacts only to other vehicles – soon a legal requirement – but it is not designed to prevent crashes with pedestrians or cyclists and there is no lane support. 

New Logan and Sandero were premiered last year in autumn.
