Mazda Japanese car producer has to withdraw more than 60.000 cars all over the world. The reason of such a decision is not defective cars at all, but strange affection of spiders for the cars of the company. The point is that spiders (Cheiracanthium punctorium) are spinning a web in the fuel system of “Mazda 6” sedan type. Moreover, they are poisonous and their sting can cause necrosis.

The spiders are used to nestle down in the ducting of gas tank evaporation chamber. The web clogs the ducting up which in its turn causes the formation of negative pressure, and the fuel flow does not percolate through the combustion chamber. Besides, the actions of spiders can provoke the formation of cracks in gas tank which in its turn can lead to the fire.

Approximately 65.000 cars will be withdrawn – 52.000 in the USA and 15.000 in Canada, Mexico and Puerto-Rico. Company’s dealers will examine the fuel system and evict spiders. A special spring will be set there not allowing poisonous spiders penetrate into the motor.
